Thinking about Bicycle Performance

The bicycle is one of the most thoroughly refined products. It sometimes seems to be more a work of nature than of man. It is already easily the most efficient form of human transportation. Yet the level of engineering that goes into bicycles continues on a steady climb.

In BikeThink I examine the fundamentals of bicycle performance. Instead of going directly to the question of which frames and components are better, I look at what the performance requirements are. I will continue to update with studies and tools that may help you make decisions about your next bike or upgrade.
